There are two stores that are owned by the Alden Shoe Company and that would be Alden of Washington D.C. To start off, the factory does not sell shoes directly. I look forward to another fantastic year of enjoying Alden's amazing footwear and sharing our stories with each other!įirst of all, congratulations on your decision to purchase an Alden shoe! I hope that this guide will help you in getting into your first pair of Aldens. With special thanks to, and for their collective efforts over the years to create this resource! The FAQ is broken out into four major sections: Before Buying, Lasts and Sizing, After Buying, and Miscellaneous. I am starting this thread off with the Frequently Asked Questions to utilize as a reference for all in the Alden Community. As alluded to in the title, a new thread will be started for each year in order to keep thread sizes manageable. ![]() This thread is intended to provide an environment to share information, enthusiasm, and pictures about Alden Shoes ask questions about Alden and to provide advice to others interested in Alden shoes. If they weren't my own feet, I'd never buy these used.Gentlemen, welcome to the Official Alden Thread for 2023! This thread is the continuation of the long running Official Alden Thread (2008 - 2015) and the subsequent annual threads ( 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022). I'm contemplating whether I should get antique edges put on them next time (not through Alden). The soles might only last me another year or so, though, with how brutal I've been on these. These have held up great, and the dark sole edges have really started to get a nice patina as they wear away and show the leather underneath. So if your lined LHS's are a bit on the snug side, you might want to size up. They are a 10.5D on the Van last, and fit snugger than my lined shell Van lasts, but the same as my unlined suede Van lasts. Frankly, for summertime loafers, there is no better choice. These are, of course, the famed unlined LHS. ![]() But the website didn't reject the order, so here we are. Apparently they shouldn't have qualified for the discount, and when I tried to buy from the store associate who sized me in person (so he'd get credit for the sale) he told me I wouldn't be allowed to buy them discounted. These were bought from Brooks Brothers in March, online during the 30% off corporate sale. Other pairs that have been getting beaten up lovingly worn are #8 rangers, #8 camp mocs, and a pair of lined natural rangers. The soles still have tons of wear left, at least 1-2 more summers, considering I have a pretty solid rotation. These have really taken on that natural shell cordovan patina, with lots of burnishing on the sides, darkening overall, and completely molding to my wear patterns. The specs were 3-eye boat shoes, unlined, white siped sole, antique brass eyelets, all natural shell cordovan (what Rancourt calls 'caramel'). And damn, if they don't look amazing for it.īought custom made from Rancourt in April. They have never known the touch of a shoe tree, and have often been worn 2,3,4 days in a row. I have a few other pairs of shell summertime shoes, but these two have by far gotten the most abuse wear.īoth of these shoes are about 5-6 months old. As a lot of you know, I do not baby my shell cordovan, preferring to show just how much beating these shoes can take. ![]() Rancourt Natural Shell Cordovan Boat ShoesĪlden #8 Shell Cordovan LHS x Brooks Brothers
